The Straddle Press to Handstand

ByCrossFit April 5, 2020

Learning any variation of the press to handstand will develop balance, coordination, and full-body control. The straddle press is more technically forgiving than press-variations with extended legs, because; the straddle position allows the feet to remain very close to the athlete’s center of gravity. A common error when performing this movement is attempting to bring the feet together too soon. This error typically causes the athlete to extend their legs behind their center of gravity, which then causes the press to fail. Athletes should strive to elevate their hips until they are positioned over the hands before beginning to bring the feet back together.
